Editorial, design, digital.
Shell wanted to move one of its global employee magazines, Production Matters (already produced by Headlines), from print to a format that aligned with readers’ increasingly digital ways of working.
The brief included:
Finding a format that was still user-friendly but easier and more cost effective to distribute to remote locations.
Enabling better readership interactivity, measurement and engagement around the key content theme of sharing replicable best practice.
Step one was to distribute Production Matters as a page-turning pdf alongside the printed magazine. Step two was to drop the print format.
Step three was to issue the fully digital Production Matters, created within the Foleon tool.
Key features:
Optimised across mobile and desktop devices.
Links to further resources including video, intranet and Yammer.
Reader survey and shareable ‘subscribe’ button.
Readership data captured via Google Analytics.
Analytics show the publication is consistently scoring an average 4.3 out of 5 in the readership survey for content and functionality/user-friendliness. More than 90% of respondents say they have read something that would help them make improvements at their asset (replicable best practice).
This success has also led to Headlines winning two further commissions for digital publications from Shell.
