The challenge

SCS (Skanska Costain STRABAG) Railways is a huge joint venture to deliver 26 miles of HS2 railway tunnels beneath London. The client required a fresh approach to their internal colleague magazine, with a focus on bringing together a diverse range of colleagues from three different companies across three work sites.

What we did

Headlines’ solution was to apply a more ‘people first’ approach and feature a balanced selection of content from each site and the wider business. This has created a channel that feels both representative and inclusive of the great work being done by colleagues at all levels throughout the project.

Visually, Headlines redesigned the magazine from the ground up, reducing the volume of copy and making it more attractive and accessible with a greater focus on photography and telling stories in a more visual way.

The outcome

There's been an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the new Platform South magazine from people working at SCS Railways, much to the delight of the SCS communications team. The client's confidence in the partnership with Headlines has already led to commissions for several additional projects.

“We have been delighted with the professionalism of the staff and the quality of the publication. Headlines are a joy to work with. They have completely revamped our magazine, creating one that is vibrant and engaging, and one that staff can’t wait to read!”

Head of Communications at SCS Railways
