Lockdown loves: Friends

Lockdown loves: Friends

The lockdown experience has been challenging for all of us and we have found solace and escape in a variety of ways. We asked the team at Headlines to share the things that made their lockdowns more bearable and made them smile in 2020.

No.5 Friends (TV series)

Selected by Andrea Pluck – Editor

Why do you like it? What does it mean to you?

It's something I can watch over and over again without getting bored. I must have watched the series about three times since March. It's made me laugh and cry and forget about all the craziness going on in the world. It's just something familiar to watch when everything is so uncertain in reality.

What are your favourite aspects of Friends?

It's just comedy gold (for me). When you're having a bad day, it's guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Also, there's no mention of COVID-19 at all so you can escape from it.

How did it help you get through lockdown?

It's kept me occupied during a time when I haven't been able to socialise with my friends and family. With a lot of my favourite programmes being cancelled this year because of the virus, it's given me something to watch that I actually enjoy. All of my friends watch it too so it's something we can talk about when we do our next Zoom quiz.

In one sentence, why is it your lockdown love?

It's timeless, never gets boring and puts a smile on my face when I'm having a bad day.
