Yet more reasons to love Milton Keynes

We’ve always known that Milton Keynes is a great place to work, but don’t take our word for it. Research proves that the town  is one of the fastest growing, most productive, and most entrepreneurial places in the UK.

Milton Keynes is one of the best places in the UK for businesses, providing strong job growth opportunities for people who live and work in the town, according to research by property consultants Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH).

The research, presented in LSH’s 2019 Vitality Index, compared a variety of datasets to assess the health of the UK’s largest towns and cities outside London. After crunching the numbers, it was found that Milton Keynes is one of the strongest locations when it comes to supporting business growth and creating new job opportunities.

Among the findings are:

  • Milton Keynes is the fastest growing town in the UK outside London, based on a combination of population, growth in economic output and commercial property data.

  • The town has seen the strongest GVA (Gross Added Value – a measure of a region's contribution to the wider economy) growth of any location in the UK outside London.

  • Milton Keynes is the second most economically productive place in the UK outside London.

  • It is joint-seventh on the list of most entrepreneurial locations outside London.

Commenting on the findings, Tom Harker, Associate Director – Office Advisory at LSH, said: “There are a lot of strong fundamentals in Milton Keynes. Its train connectivity is really good. It has a strong location; easy to get to London or Birmingham. In terms of living, working and playing here, there are a lot of leisure and retail amenities. It has a lot to offer.

“There is a lot of good development going on. A lot of new development is coming through, which will facilitate further growth, especially for employers looking to grow or relocate, which brings job opportunities.

Goldman Sachs is a great example from last year. The whole tech sector is emerging here and the growth potential is excellent.”
